A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Folks, This is interesting. Remember a few months ago when we were discussing the midget white and that the remaining flock was sent to Beltsville in 2005? Back then I looked up the status at the conservancy and it was showing the breed extinct. I just looked at them today and they are showing them in the watch status.

We know a number of folks and hatcheries selling them, but makes me wonder if they really do hold the genetics of Dr Smyth's or Dr Wentworth's flocks or if they've been re-created following the breeding programs of those two?

Ralphie/R2 what are your thoughts.

Oh dang Aurora....was hoping Azul was a hen. I'm still at my house in Ste. Genevieve MO. It's currently 6 degrees. I'm out of here as soon as I down another cup of coffee. It's 21 in Memphis....
It got down to -16°F at 2:13 AM but is now 28°F here at 6:58 AM. Oh the wonders of a Chinook!!

The birds have all wanted to stay in... they think -5 is too cold... but the turkeys are all wound up and the turkey hen keeps grabbing chicken hens' combs .. and the dominate tom keeps challenging me...so he gets thrown to the ground and his head pecked...I think he doesn't like my snow boots this year, I thought it might be my gloves and changed those...the turkeys all get locked out of the coop.
