A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

I will be setting a turkey egg when I put my duck eggs in the bator tomorrow.... this will be my first try with duck eggs. The turkey egg is from the same guy I got the last turkey eggs from. I managed to hatch one out of two last time so we will see how it goes.....
Update: I have 3 total turkey eggs in the bator cooking. .... these are from standard bronze and chocolate lines. My friend has several hens of both breeds and one tom of each all running together

Fertilized turkey eggs looks exactly like this

Just curious...what is the average success rate on shipped turkey eggs? Low?

Totally depends on how well they're packaged and how well the post office treats them. They could be packaged perfectly and kicked around by employees wanting to play kickball and arrive in a pile of mush. Or they could be the worste packaged eggs ever and be treated like gold and arrive fine. It really just depends. I've had excellent shipped egg hatches, and totally terrible ones too :/

Also the shorter distance they are shipped usually ends in better results.

Have any of you guys ever ordered from Porters? Any thoughts? I just want to add some pretty birds to my flock. I'll sell the extras more then likely to some friends. Also want to get some meat birds to sell around thanksgiving. Didnt have enough last year.

I've actualy had worse luck that way. The stuff sent to me from with PA have all had worse hatch rates Tab anything from out of state.

I did. I don't know if it was just my luck or what but all but 2 of my Porter's poults died on me over the month after I got them. Pirate and Mister are my two survivors. I never even managed to sell off any extras
