A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

So my broody hen hatched a single poult so far. Unfortunately looks like another hen or the Tom grabbed the baby and partially ripped its scalp open. I heard faint peeping outside and the thing was lying sprawled out and panting in the full sun on a 100* day. Still alive but prognosis is probably poor.

Brought the little one inside to my brooder and cleaned wounds with vetericyn, applied triple antibiotic, and gave a few cc’s of nutridrench and bird vitamins mixed into lukewarm water. Poor thing.

Bad mama hen :(

Well, I think I'm gonna sell off my RPs... They've been a real challenge here and I don't have any white (aka yellow poults). Maybe give it some time and try again. I need to setup a place for the bachelors and work on growing out some girls. I've got a guy interested in "pairs"... Hard for me to swallow as we all know how pairs work out.

Geez Polarberry....hate to hear that....keeping my fingers crossed!

Thanks. I don’t know if he got pecked too hard on the head or was in the full sun too long but he can’t seem to get his feet up under him. Like he’s scooted around on his belly but coordination seems off. And doesn’t look like anything leg related. I’ll give him some time to recover from the shock of it all before I decide to cull or continue treating. Poor turklet.

So yeah, won’t be giving my hen any from the incubator hatch to raise. I’ll leave her with the remaining 10 eggs she has and see if she wants to actually be a mom.
