A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Thanks, Aurora

I love the swing, too. My chickens’ shed is too flimsy for a swing or I’d give them one tomorrow, so cool! Looks to me like turkeys are pretty adaptable. That’s encouraging to know. I’m really looking forward to getting them. Glad they’re not coming TOO soon. It’s still sooo cold.

Almost, she hatched ten of them. After I moved her, the hatched poults and remaining eggs into solitary confinement, she ended up abandoning four unhatched eggs. I went to toss them and the first one I tossed cracked open with dangling, moving legs sticking out. I retrieved that egg and took it and the others to the house and candled them. The cracked egg was not showing any yolk remaining so I peeled the poult out and put it in the hatcher. There was one other egg that was internally pipped so it went into the hatcher too. One egg was infertile and one egg was rotten so I disposed of both of those.

Both of the ones that I hatched went into the brooder with guinea keets for a day as the keets got them eating and drinking. The day after being in the brooder with the keets, I gave them to the turkey hen and she happily accepted them.

I love that pic of the momma hen with all those babies! Speaking of bug eyed babies, we seem to be lacking pics of currently hatched poults!! Hint, hint....

Only 24 here this morning. Honestly the turkeys & chickens are ok with the temps. It's me who's a whimp. At least the sun is out. But rain moving in over the weekend...yet again.

Hoping Daisy didn't have nightmares last night after her forced Guinea rescue attempt. Boy you should have heard poor Annie screaming when I took Daisy away on her rescue mission. She was not happy. Daisy didn't seem to care. I think she was enjoying the adventure. But then again...Daisy seems to always go with the flow. Annie is much more dramatic.
