Was a beautiful day. Water around house has receded quickly. Wishing they would get main highway back open. But rumor is has sustained some damage. May be awhile.

Cream legbars can be a bit fussy in cold weather, but it's the Combs they have that are my biggest problem. I'll have some available next spring, if all goes well, since I had to do a full. My older ones(around 4-6) just weren't fertile or had weird shells, and so I'm starting over with a new batch. I learned something last year... The yearling hen I have left currently I s absolutely adorable, but she has a greenish tint to her eggs. We will see how the other 9 turn out by this summer.Apparently my cream legbars were too delicate to survive our winter, so I just have the one blue egg lady now.
Our hen buried hers in hay. Only reason we knew is because my daughter saw her sitting and went to check after she saw her leave the nest.A turkey hen burried the eggs yesterday. The usual spot I had put a bait egg and at night there was a smooth spot where the depression had been. I dug in the spot and found the bait egg and two more. It was in the 30s so I guess she was keeping them warm.. the other spot in the same fence row just had a couple of leaves over them.... makes it hard to go Easter egg hunting when they are burried
Didn't know hens would bury eggs. Interesting. Maybe that's what my slackers are doing.
Feedman, heading too Ste. Genevieve this weekend. Supposed to be warm! Hope your flooding goes down quickly. I know there are several roads closed in Ste. Genevieve county. Mostly along the river. Tis the season, I guess.
