A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Well. I candled.....The mailed eggs appear to have 3 maybe 4 that developed.  I admit I did a fast candle because I had the doors open too long.  They are set to hatch on the 18th.

I had a "mess" of eggs to hatch on the 13th.  I have 13 I put into the hatcher. The rest are going in the garbage. All non-starters except one I think is a late quitter but too hard to tell so he is in the hatcher.  Another in the hatcher is a side saddle air sac. I just laid it on the bottom of the hatcher, not in a carton I have no  Little hope for it.

My young Blues appear to be worthless. Either that or they spent so much time fighting through the fences they forgot to mate.  Dumbchisssskis!

Every egg in the hatcher is a JJ egg!  He only had 3 girls them too, so he had a lower percentage of girls and got all the eggs!    JJ is a bird to behold!  He has knobby feet, I hope the bet tomorrow does not make a big deal about them. He has always had them. Well, as long as I have had him, but he came from such harsh conditions he is lucky to still have feet.

So I have 27 different kinds of birds that can hatch on the 13th!

Oh did I mention, I think some have already internally pipped, I can see the birds moving around in the air sacs!  Or right below it. They did not seem to like the light shined in their homes!

My first turkeys of the year are so exciting! I wish they had not been so many blanks,,,,I did not think to candle any of the other two boys other eggs.

I was hoping that more than that would develope :/ well, let's just hope they all hatch for you. You'll have to post pictures then. Good luck with the rest of your eggs!

The other two CCL hatched. Another boy and another girl. No whites unfortunately. Is it a coincidence that both girls hatched from C1 eggs and both boys from C2? Lol

Aurora....thanks for the poul fix! They look great. Little cuties. So what color will Prince be?

Good luck ya'll on all ya hatches!!

I'm assuming that Prince will be a royal palm but we'll have to wait and see. They grow so fast and are flying all over the place. It'll be nice one I can move them out to the coop with the adults. I still have a while till we can even think about attempting thar one though.

Pebbles is off the nest! I'm hoping it lasts more than a couple days again. I removed the ceramic eggs from their nests again to try to discourage her and I think it worked. I'm just s little nervous that the girls will start laying in the woods now :/ BUT Pebbles is out lol

I am done with my day, Wrestling 13 turkeys' to the ground, holding them down and drawing their blood is tiring!

I have turkey Poults Hatching they are suppose to hatch on the 13th. I took them out of the incubator last night and I have some externally pipped now! I cut that a little close..

Go to the surviving Minnesota thread to read about the testing day... I am a NPIP flock and approved hatchery tonight!! Yeah...

Congratulations on your npip cert.

Hope your first turkey hatch goes well.

Ughh.

That stinking broody bug is making its dreadful presence known.

I have another hen wanting to brood. Hopefully I catch her off the nest tomorrow and can gather the eggs.

I put six baby chicks into my pen in a brooder house got up next morning half were gone.

Set a trap and caught a ring eyed bandit. Hope it's the only one but I doubt it.

Man I miss my coonhounds.

So tomorrow is running 3ft of welded wire underground around my brooder house.
