A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Some (most) of my birds consider being caught and picked up as terrorism....

I have netting over my pens. The stupid RP pushed the piece of plywood out I had blocking the turkey door. I keep it about 4-5 inches from the floor, that way the chickens can go in and out but the turkeys are locked in. I have to put the turkeys away about 3pm or they start to roost. They do not even wait for a hint of darkness to roost.

The RPs put there heads, body whatever under the plywood and just lifted it up. It has been there for 5 years and never been a problem, all of a sudden one turkey developed a brain and they escaped. Now I need to pin it so it cannot go up.

Also the turkeys are not going to be allowed to free range when I am not home beings they want to play on the road....

I'm rather enjoying the tribulations the RP are causing you & Aurora. Its interesting, but they seems to have radically different temperaments. Maybe its just me, but my girls are the perfect little southern ladies! ;)

Back when I had some Royal Palms, mine acted just like all of my other turkeys. I saw no difference in the temperaments of my Royal Palms than with any of my other turkeys. They do tend to be better flyers because of their lighter weights but that was the only real difference that I noticed. They were no harder to keep penned than any of the others.

I have all kinds of brat turkeys and all kinds of decent turkeys. However, I have noticed the RP fly a lot. When they first get out they fly. Which might be why they go further than my old turkeys.

I still think they attended the school of Bellybuttoness offered by the Guineas....

I have about a dozen Toms that are soon going to become table fare.

My rp hen doesn't stray too far from the rest, Rosabelle is firmly attached to her best friend Annabelle, the burbon red. The burbon red are only slightly bigger than my rp, they all of them enjoy flying all over as one big poopy flock. But never as poopy as waterfowls. That's another level of poop.

Ralphie Mr. Ts RP friend were terrible. They flew up on everything and couldn't be contained! So they were eaten lol. At least they were all boys.

I'm going to have to try to get a video of the ducks and the RP girls sometime soon. Earlier today, I was out cutting some pine branches for my mom and the Palms were following me around. They're lurkey turkeys when they want to be and I was doing something very strange and out of the ordinary. Cosmo, my drake is very much anti social when it comes to people so he didn't want to come closer. He was standing about 20 feet away, crying (hissing) for the girls to come back over to him. He wanted to be near them but didn't want to come near me lol. He eventually gave in and came to them (they don't love him quite as much as he loves them lol).

The best part of their little group though was seeing all 3 ducks and both palms come flying around the edge of the coop together today like a perfect, normal flock lol
