A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Yeah I’m sorry just used to talking and sharing with the turkey folk. I’ll go there though. Didn’t mean to flood turkey forum with chicken pics.
I don't think that it was intended as a "go away" but more like a resource for more answers in one place. I know my first time incubating I spent hours reading many of those threads. The thing that impressed me was the knowledge that is shared from people who have done this many times.

Mine yielded diddly squat. but I've seen this before. we'll know more in the spring.

Our potatoes hardly ever give us much of anything but this year we got some sweet potato starts from a neighbor. I was surprised how well they did and oh so delicious! We may just go with them from now on instead.

HEY y'all. . I stalk this thread so I can look all your beautiful turkey pictures. I haven't seen a turkey picture for days :hit
I was thinking a majestic Tom strutting in the snow would be gorgeous. . who's got some pics?? :pop

There's no snow to speak of here right now but how about a hen helping to fix the car? This is an old picture but I love it. It popped up in my Facebook from a couple years ago. Miss Eve was helping hubby :)

I think Eve basically stood there telling him what to do and making sure he was doing it right lol. She's a people bird and has to be right in the middle of everything. So is Romeo for that matter. Taking that picture was so hard because he kept walking towards me while I was trying lol. He loves nothing more than to be in the company of featherless friends.

Here's an interesting question... Have any of you seen your turkeys chase a hawk? Apparently one of the migrating red tails decided to stop by for lunch yesterday afternoon. As he began his dive, four of my teen Toms took to flight going after him. He decided to eat somewhere else and I had to go let the Toms back into the pasture since they couldn't figure out the whole fence thing, again.:rant

I would not have believed it, if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes. :eek:I didn't think they would do that

no but I think they tangled with one last christmas...
26 terrified chickens.. turkey feathers ripped out of the back of one jake and the tail of another, in the middle of the hoop coop were the feathers... turkeys and roo together (which never happens) looking to the west at the high power lines.. snow on the ground and no predator tracks... juvenile red tail seen later in the day hunting the high power lines
I think a hawk was chasing the halloween chicks into the coop and the turkeys were either in there or went after it..

I find it amazing they could get off the ground enough to fly after it! I've never seen that happen here but hawk attempts are rare here. They're around, we see them all the time but we've only ever lost 1 to a hawk (which we caught the next day and released it somewhere else) and 1 other attempt that was thwarted by my hero roos. We have a lot of words surrounding our little clearing and I think the Hawks mostly hunt the bigger farm fields where they can see better.
