A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Memphis it is an excellent idea that I know works :) I have people come over to buy chickens and ducks, then when they get here and see me handle the turkeys and how sweet and friendly they are..... they leave with turkeys and not ducks lol
We have that here too. My tom Fred and Sweetie are the welcoming committee when people come to buy. People are so afraid of Fred untill he comes up for a pet

Ralphie...was just starting to wonder where you disappeared too! Wanna see picks of the unusual colored babies!!

Great shot Turkey Times....kinda can't blame all these girls for clustering in one nest. How lonely to be by yourself for so long brooding...at least they've got friends to chat with!!

Doesn’t look like any broken eggs, just some huuuge broody poops left by the waterer

Question: I put in one of my horizontal nipple waterers in with my turkeys and showed them the nipples and even put a mealworm balanced on each one to entice pecking and they did not use them for 2 whole days... they had no other water source and were very excited for their old waterer to return... anyone have luck teaching their older birds to learn a nipple waterer? I may try the cup style even though I don’t like them quite as much (can still get messy). Silly turkeys.... even my meat birds learned them in a day.

2017 I got some poults that had been raised with vert nipples.. I put out a hort... They learned it and the 2016 tom does sometimes drink out of it.. but it is not the only source most days because I have chicks, poults, chickens and turkeys in the same yard.
So I have 4 waterers out there. some birds seem to prefer it and some the regular waterer

I switched all my chickens to the nipple ones on hanging 5 gallon buckets for ease of keeping it clean. Turkeys just don’t like change!

Yoopersgirl. Glad to hear your poult is still hanging in there and doing better.

Rebuilt my sections of run that I had to use elsewhere. Opened up all my pens to give all the birds to larger run time. Were all happy running and flapping and pecking the grass. A couple of roos that didn't like each other thru the fence got to meet face to face got ugly but they settled their differences.

Last batches of eggs set for the year in the incubators. Stopping early this year. Planning to keep birds out of last hatches for next year's replacements.
