Wow! What fun! I’m so glad you were able to do that, Bantam! It would have put me in bed for the rest of the day I’m sure but it makes me feel good just thinking of you enjoying a such beautiful ride in the high places.Man did a 14 mile ride in the Beartooth mountains today to escape the heat. The horses climbed 3000 feet up from the trailhead untill we reached 9200 feet above sea level. Once we reached the top, it was rolling Alpine Meadows just bursting with thousands of flowers and a lovely cool breeze, and views beyond the horizon. Then, we had to ride back down. My mom had me riding my dad's ( half) Tennessee walker gelding. He's a goer, in true walker fashion. I had to keep him in check on the slopes because he would have charged right around to the front if I had let him.
I haven't done much trail riding since I was a teenager and my folks used to do long horseback camping excursions into the mountains.
