A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Ok turkey people.
I have turkey eggs hatching today. . one out two to go.

Problem is the other two eggs pipped at the wrong end. :th
They have been externally pipped since at least midnight last night when I noticed. It's almost 1 in the afternoon now. .
How much longer should I wait before starting an assist?
I got worried about an hour ago if they were breathing and I peeled the membrane away from their pip holes.
Might have been a mistake I don't know. But they are still alive so far. :fl

Carefully enlarge the pip hole as if you were zipping. Watch closely for any blood vessels. If you aren't finding blood vessels, continue zipping until you can remove the top of the egg shell. Check for shrink wrapping and moisten as necessary but let the poults kick themselves out of the rest of the egg on their own.

I find that using my hatcher, poults that have been pipped for 24 hours or more are usually shrink wrapped and need some assistance. I also find that not allowing the poult to kick its way out of the shell can cause foot or leg problems.

Ok thank you!
It's not been 24 hours just yet. . should I wait a little longer you think?

It is up to you. I have on a rare occasion seen a pip on the wrong end that was actually caused by a foot rather than by the beak. I have also based whether or not I help more on the situation than on the timing. If you decide to help, do not break any blood vessels. If you run into blood vessels, it is too soon to help.

Daisy went to the birthday party today! A good time was had by all! They had a nice chunk of watermelon for her. There were several kids there that had never met a turkey. They loved her! The dad said it was more fun having Daisy than the clown they hired last year. We stayed about 20 minutes. The littlest kid started crying when we were leaving. None of the kids wanted her to go. She rode on my lap in the golf cart. She loved it! She wants one!
LOL you need to sell poults

Not turkeys but emus

This has absolutely nothing to do with turkeys but I'm really excited for band season this year lol. Brendon's first parade of the season was today...They're doing a "Haunted Highlanders" theme this year and it's going to be a ton of fun! They have tombstone props and some kids are being zombies for the halftime show this year. This is from the Fireman's Jubilee parade today :)

Brendon is in the second row from the left, 3rd kid back (tall guy playing clarinet)

I did assist. But it kicked out on its own.
Waiting on the 3rd.. I don't think it's ready. I can see it's beak. . still chewing.
