A Question Out of Genuine Political Curiousity

Can you write in on electronic ballots? I haven't tried it yet, but been wondering. If I can, I'll write in Ron Paul, too.

To answer the original question: I think he was figuring on exactly what has happened (and he was right)--the people who are in favor believe he will do it and will vote for him. The people who are not in favor will believe he can't possibly do it and he's just saying that... so it won't stop them from voting for him. In other words, politics.

Since we're all weighing in on who we're voting for, and this thread is apparently approved by the mods (it hasn't been locked and they're locking all sorts of other stuff, so I guess this thread is okay), I'll just say...

The fact that McCain was fourth to the very last place in his class of almost 900, and couldn't articulate his ideas very well in interviews but rather shot off memorized lines from various TelePrompTer speeches, and the fact that he doesn't work weekends even during a crisis, tells me a vote for him will be a vote for another George Bush...no education, no new ideas, always on vacation...

McCain also wants to take away women's right to choose. I'd rather not let a man tell me what I can and can't do with my own body, especially if I was the victim of rape.

Also, I want to say I voted for the first Black President. I think it's time our country embraced its diversity a little bit more.

See, I dont understand why that matters. I dont care if your white, black, yellow, man, or woman, if your polices suck, im not going to vote for you.

Obama is an idiot! He wants to give 1 billion dollars to Georgia and replace all of the equiptment that the US has given them. That is the dumbest thing I have heard. I really hope that he doesnt get elected. He just wants to keep raising taxes and giving away our money.

A persons race or how they look is not important in a presidential election. That is a very poor and discriminatory reason to vote.

Oh, I hope we don't start name-calling. Especially each other!

The Chicken Lady, I think I know how you feel. I would love to feel like I was progressive enough to vote for a minority. I just don't agree with Obamas (or Hillary's, for that matter) policies. --not that I agree with McCain's...

I would like to say that I hope everyone will use their best, most informed judgment. But in this case, I don't think even that will help. I'm pretty sure we're skrood.

And this is different from what the current president has been doing HOW??
Sorry. Obama is the better of the two candidates. Unless of course you think that the last 8 years of Bush's reign has been wonderful and full of hope and promise. And want to vote for a man that has already said he will "stay the course"

As far as flip flopping goes. Its called making decisions on the fly. And when you are first given INCORRECT information on which you had to base a choice/vote And are then given the actual truth of the matter. Bet your bottom I want someone that can and will change their mind when the new information is presented to them. Doing anything less leads to loss. Look around you.
Our schools are falling apart. Many teachers arent getting new text books. More dont have enough text books or basic supplies. Kids lunches are going up. Heat in the classrooms will be being turned down. No busing for kids anymore in a lot of cities here. while the number of pedophiles on the streets and in our neighborhoods rises.
Yet we keep sending money to Iraq etc to rebuild what we should have stayed out of in the first place.

This from the president that said "No child left behind"
Guess he didnt mean OUR children

You know, if people got this interested in LOCAL politics, we'd have a better pool from which to draw candidates for statewide and federal offices.

It doesn't do alot of good to gripe about the quality of presidential candidates if we're electing a bunch of no good city councilfolk, county commissiners and school board members. Get to know your local elected officials and HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE. If we all did that, we'd improve the situation on the national scene in our own lifetimes.

<stepping delicately off soapbox>

ETA -- name calling definitely doesn't help.
