A sign of getting ready to start laying?

Hi all! I have 5 bantams and two started laying 2 weeks ago! It was so exciting!!! But three of them are around 6-8 months old and not laying yet. I’ve notice in the last couple days they have started going in the hen house a lot more during the day. Well today, I find that my nesting boxes were all destroyed. All the stray and wood chips were kicked out. Is this a sign someone could be getting ready to lay?
Thank you for your replies!
Here’s a picture of our first eggs!

Oh ok, ya they never bothered before or even touched them. Do they check out the boxes when they are close to laying maybe? I hope so! Getting eggs has been the funniest thing ever. Every time they lay we are all Celebrating 🥳
We will add some inches to the edges so this doesn’t happen with eggs in the nest.
Thank you, sourland

Sounds as if they are checking out the nest boxes. Higher lips on the front of the nest box should help keep the bedding in place.
