Solved Alert Challenged

This morning, 37 are in my Alerts summary pop up bubble... Except no alerts for this thread were found in the pop up alert summary. Scrolling back thru 3 pages I found new posts for this thread 75 alerts deep(in the pages).
When I clicked on the alerts from the summary pages, indeed they were unread new posts.
So I believe the missing alerts would be located in the Alert Pop Up Window/Bubble, not the Alerts pages.

I have learned that the pop up alerts doesn't show as many as the pages. Not sure if it is time related at the moment.

• Alerts page skips mark read
  Viewing the alerts page will not mark alerts as read
  
  
• Alerts page skips summarizing
  Viewing the alerts page will not summarize alerts

(these are the only 2 boxes unchecked on my alert preferences)
All boxes are checked with the exception of these two.

I may have to read this tomorrow morning, my brain must be too tired to digest this.
You're saying that all the alerts are not showing up in the pop up bubble, but they are on the main alert page. If we're not going there and clicking the alert, it isn't refreshing the alert and thus we're not receiving any further alerts?

I don't have that many alerts anywhere usually. I've not gotten alerts on some threads (but I may not have checked the main alert page) but I've also received two alerts in the pop up window for the same thread, but I hadn't been on.

I was going to try to unwatch the threads that are current and active and click rewatch on them to see if that helps.

Sometimes I have to look more closely at the alert and it may say “there may be more posts after this” which basically means that there were a lot of reply’s in a short period of time and they just put it into one alert

that is something that has always been about them saying there may be more posts

Yes, and I mentioned this in a discussion I started that had more comments than I realized, because I wasn't getting any alerts.

I did stop my email notifications. My email inbox was constantly overflowing with new emails. So I figured I somehow triggered some of the alerts to stop altogether.

There are discussions I've participated in that I want to follow, and some I've unwatched to limit the number of alerts. I hope I continue to receive alerts for discussions I've started and are currently watching.

Today my alerts are all there. I am finding it better to go to the alerts page and start where I left the site the day before.
Starting where I ended my last visit. Also I like the compile alerts recently added..If someone like 20 of your posts, it compiles a single alerts.. (so & so liked 20 of your).

Hmmm. This morning a little strangeness. I believe I stopped BYCing @ 9PM last night from parking my bottom half at the dinner table and depleting my ambition to do anything but Rust away in front of the boob tube.
Today's annalist would start shortly after 9PM last eve.
Minimal alerts this morning in the pop up tab. Not a problem I assure you. So I read the summary page itself.
No alerts for Sally's Ed. Incub. thread which was kinda strange since usually I spend more time catching up on than rambling away on.
NOW the bizarre part.. A bunch of new posts and.. the posts don't have the little NEW tag on them starting from this point Yesterday at 9:23 PM #8226 all the way thru today, when I went to the thread late this morning.
But now that I have just visited the thread for completion of this example, a post was made a mins ago and now I am getting alerts again at this part and time of that thread. As well as being tagged with the little red NEW thingy.

So just looking at my "YOUR CONTENT" log, this was my last entry..Yesterday at 8:50 PM in forum: Hatch-A-Longs .
I don't have a whole lot of time this morning to dig deeper and see if other threads were affected.
But just a little strange ALERTS shut off as well as the posts themselves were not marked new after I left the forum.
I did not log out of the site but did leave the internet and shut down my browser.

Saturday some time was my last view. The thread did have the red NEW tags but my alerts failed to notify me.
Nifty, it's not a problem for me. Or an inconvenience. I have bookmarked my favorite stomping ground threads and just randomly visit from there. Really no big deal on my part.
So I'm just going to sit back and enjoy your site. Don't worry. It's just a tiny technicality. just maybe a little bug or something. It doesn't effect my enjoyment of BYC.
So I am just going to let it ride. I did find some examples so at least I showed myself I'm not just going senile in my old age..

I figured it out!! Go to alert preferences and scroll to bottom! You’ll see a “summarize alerts” button! Read it and fix it!

I have done that too. But some days some threads are missing, others days not. I have bookmarked my "coffee talk" threads and personal threads and click to stuff I'm in the mood for.
It's no big deal to me. I will use the summarized page however, to review responses to my responses.
I don't sweat the small stuff.

I am a member of BYH & TEG. When I visit those peeps, The alerts are pretty accurate. But those sister sites don't see nearly the traffic volume BYC gets.
