All My Chickens..... a coop opera!

Here’s the blessed mess... The buckets sitting around are from after the storm we collected water just in case we were out... (mainly I was thinking about the chickens ) after hurricane Katrina we were without water for two weeks.. this time we had a pencil thin line for about a week... but that’s better than none!
It’s not all that bad considering! My friend across the street had a tree through her roof

Hi there! Good to be here! We are all doing very well... it’s been a lot of work... we got an oak tree down and two giant pine trees... the pines did not fall we had them cut down and have four more to go... and the oak tree broke in half so we got the rest of it cut down... so now a lot of the mess is trying to fix the yard after the tree guys are done... but I dare not complain! This whole thing puts everything into perspective... I can definitely deal with a messy yard... my dear friend is dealing with putting her house back together... as are lots of people.

Wow. I have to remind myself how fourtanate we are every now and then as well. I heard terrible things that happened with the flood, and one had to do with a gator…. Which makes me even more happy to know you all are okay. Just keep hanging in there, and I will leave your friend in my prayers.

I have to say though... yall probably know more than we do about the storm... when we lose power after the hurricanes we have no way of knowing what’s going on.. so we always miss all the news cuz by the time we get power no one is talking about the storm anymore...
I remember after Hurricane Katrina my sister was able to get a phone call through.. she was living in Maryland at the time and we were having a conversation and she got so upset with me at how unconcerned I was about the whole thing.. and I was like what are you talking about and she told me all what was happening in New Orleans and I had no idea AND no way of knowing any of it! So that part really stinks... we only hear things from word of mouth...

Oh, and I don’t mean anything against the tree guys! It’s their huge equipment and they can’t help that... I’m thankful for them! We had some really nice guys that did great work!

There's something to be said for old fashioned battery powered radios after all this time the internet isn't disaster proof.

This is so true! And after this storm we are actually going to have a hurricane preparedness kit... this is the worst storm we’ve ever been through! We had the eye wall for like two hours! It was terrifying! I was scared to death hiding behind my husbands chair while he slept
And good day to you... so nice to be back.. my poor chickens have only been getting hugs every now and then
