Ameraucana/Araucana/EasterEgger.... how to clear up confusion?

Oh, hey, Jean, you live close to me, I am in Chattaroy. I think I have seen your ads on CL, hopefully they help educate people, their is so much misinformation out there on these breeds.
I am pretty certain the only way to get true Araucanas and Ameraucanas is through an educated breeder, LOL. Especially Araucanas. I pretty much assume they are EEs otherwise.
If they can't spell it, they probably don't have it, ha, ha.

Nowadays when I see "Araucana/Ameraucana" in the description, I automatically assume "Easter Egger". There's still enough hope, tho, that I'll really get an Ameraucana... and I think this hope is what the hatcheries play on.

But to me it doesn't really matter what they're called, as long as they lay those lovely eggs!

I was searching the web for araucana colors yesterday and saw the Cackle hatchery site. They are making a move in the right direction as far as Araucanas are concerned. They list the true Araucana as being rumpless and tufted and list their birds as Easter Egg Chicken ( Americanas) which is a step in the right direction. There description of their chickens seems fairly accurate and truthful. I think if they posted a blurb that their chickens do not meet the standard of perfection for Americana's it would be great. It looks like they are merely using the Americana name since that is what people are used to, yet they are directing their attention to the name Easter Egg Chicken and focusing on the positives of their chickens, which are wide color variation, egg production, and egg colors.

A couple more years and they can remove the Americana in the name and everyone will be looking for the Easter Egg Chicken.

Seem like they are trying to end the confusion not add to it. I think if people realized the positives about the Easter Egg Chicken that are listed above and didn't focus on the fact that they arn't americana's they would be happier. Most people are saying they just want colorful eggs and don't want to show anyway. So if the hatcheries embraced the Easter Egg Chicken ( see it just rolls off the tongue like poetry) people buying their chickens would also.

Its been said before (not by me, but I will say it again) if you want show quality, buy from a breeder. Why would you buy from a hatchery or farm supply or TSC (which I do for my egg layers) if you were looking to get a bird to win at shows. It doesn't make sense. If you want the best quality you buy from people who are constantly trying to breed toward a standard, not just to sell chicks.
