Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Hi everyone! I am new to the forum and new to chickens.

How do you pronounce Ameraucana??? Is it ameh-rahoo-cah-nah????

It is driving me crazy!! I look at the word, think I have it, then go to speak it and get all tounge tied!!!

Please pardon my attempt at phonetics, probably pretty pathetic!

Anyway, I am very interested in acquiring several Marans and Ameraucancas for my small egg business.

What's that black hen in the center of the last pic? She's beautiful and I love her shape.

That's Tiny. Black Ameraucana, beardless. She was so teensy and it took her days to learn to eat and drink because she can't see well at all. Thank goodness she isn't blind, though.

That's Tiny? Goodness, I never saw her all grown up. She's very elegant looking.

Oh and DUH on me. I see you had that posted above. Sorry, I've been up since 4:30.

And yes, I see what you mean about her body type. Not like an Ameraucana.

Brody's Broodello :

Just wanted to post some pics of our newest addition Becky. A Blue Wheaten Ameraucana chick that we brought back from Lucasville last weekend. She became quite attached to my son who had to have her with him for the entire 8 hour drive. If he put her down she would scream bloody murder so she road the entire way home like this

they both were very tired and napped a while

That must be the most precious thing i ever seen. Great pic...:)That second should be a post card.

I had 3 adorable BBS Ameruacanas hatch today! 2 are definitely blue and the 3rd is either dark blue or black (I can never tell). Hopefully some pullets since the last 2 I hatched are both turning out to be boys.

My Ameraucanas (as well as my BR/BBS Ameraucana crosses) are some of my best layers. If most of the flock doesn't lay one day, there will still be blue or green eggs from that bunch. Naturally, the green ones are from the crosses.
