Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Yes. The so-called partridge is a very common Easter Egger color.

Real Ameraucanas come in solid Blue, Black, Splash, White, and Buff as well as Silver, Wheaten, Brown-Red, and Blue Wheaten. Lavender is another color, not accepted yet, but widely known and purebred.

Brown-Red
is identical to the color you see on Black Copper Marans, but minus the extra mahogany red.

Buff is SOLID buff, not what a lot of people think their brown and black EE's are.

Silver
is silver duckwing, however many people confuse some duckwing EE's with it. Silver Ameraucanas should not have any red, brown, or yellow in males, and should not have any blue color in females, plus they should have slate legs.

You're missing a lot more than that

- Plus Lavender is not yet recognized, so really, it isn't quite a listed color to mention, but is a color found in Ameraucanas.

Caught the no I thing after. Thx. Some of mine I got from a true breeder that shows. The brown ones came from someone who claimed they were Ameracaunas, pure bred. Tell me, have you ever heard of a clean faced Ameracauna?

Yep! In Blue, Black, Splash it is sadly a common issue. In some Wheaten/Blue Wheatens I've been learning it is also an issue, but not as common. I don't know why it is so neglected in Blue, Black, and Splash Ameraucanas - But I know in Blue Wheatens it is because most people just breed them for their egg color and production. Blue Wheatens are popular because they're the only breed APA recognized for such color, and their egg color is just amazing.

I've seen people do blue now and then but it isn't recommended. And, any other color will just cause color leakage and mess things up. (although a good clean white not hiding any genes is a good one ) But once you get some color in, it takes quite a while to get rid of it, especially with Lavender! The color is greatly diluted, and thus some people don't even realize it is there.
