split is when a bird carries a gene but doesn't express it. lav x black = 100% lav split visually black birds
lav split x lav split = 25% lav, 50% split and 25% black

nope, can be mottled split, pied split...there are a lot of others but I don't think there are any other splits in ameraucana than lav...yep, only way to know is if you bred it or breeder told you...they don't happen by accident
There are (I think) split to silver, white, and buff in the ameraucanas as well. Using one color to improve another. I have split to spangled EEs in the incubator.
