Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

There are very few bantam Amer. put up for show in our area and I know Lavender variety is one of the newest to be considered for the APA. Can anyone weigh in on what kind of project this would be? I already have Blue Wheatons that I am trying to find a full grown rooster to breed with this spring in N. CA and Blk Copper Marans. Both are special projects, one because of lack of breeders in the area and the other because the bloodlines are still being worked on. What kind of hatching odds do the lavenders have and how difficult is it to breed, hatch, sell, and/or raise? Alternate Bantam suggestions? Any input would be great!

Can some one post pic of solid white Ameraucans, so I can compare mine. Pic my Sis took this year of one of my Roos.

Thanks VIVI

If you want someone to critique your cock bird, you should use a color photo. I stand by my previous comment, -The picture of the black and blue hens on your site is not yours and should not be used without permission of the owner. I believe it belongs to a lady in Michigan who hasn't had ameraucanas for a few years now.

There are pictures of LF and bantam white ameraucanas and chicks here:

There is one breeder in your area that raises bantam lavenders and she is listed on the breeders directory on the Ameraucana website. The birds are still in project stage and have issues with feather quality. There are no difficulties in breeding or hatching them. Just more time needed to finish off the finer points of the standard.

The lavenders are not being considered by the APA or ABA at this time and will not be until sufficient numbers of the birds are shown at ABC meets that will qualify them in the eyes of the APA/ABA as a serious variety to be considered. There are qualifying steps that must be taken before a breed club can go before the Standards Committee and at this time they still have not been met.

Please see ur inbox. VIVI The rooster that was on there is NOT same Roo!! on my web page. I have placed this Roo pic over there. As to the hen pic it was given with the purchase of my hens. VIVI
This bird is an easter egger, you can tell by the photo on your web site that he has yellow skin, his beak is yellow. Also the picture of the black and blue hens on your site is not yours andshouldnot be used without permission of the owner.

Some of my girls finally started laying. The top right is from my Wheaten Peachick lined girl. I was not expecting it to be so dark green. The bottom ones are from my blue girl. The top left is my Welsummer pullet.
