Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Curious if candling blue eggs is different. I’ve only ever incubated silkie eggs and they are light and easy to see spiderweb of veins and moving embryos. I candled the Ameraucana eggs last night (day8)and saw some veins Near the air cells but otherwise just dark, except the air cells. I had 3 clears that was easy to tell, nothing going on in there just the yolk.

Yes, they are much harder to candle than white eggs.

Even when the blue is very light it is all of the way through the shell, so makes it harder to look inside.

Thank you that’s what I thought and chalked it up to needing to invest in a better light to candle with. I was happy with the air cells none are detached or saddled which is a first for me with shipped eggs.

My little wheatens hatched. Surprising me on day 19. I had 8 hatch they are so cute and friendly already.
