Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Check out the feather color of this wheaten Ameraucana pullet. Two birds are pale copper and then there's this girl. The center of the feather is the same as the others but the outer edge is deep copper. She's gorgeous!!! Is this a normal color?

Here you can tell how much darker her feathers are than the rest:

Hmmm,
My Paul smith pullets and cockerels are showing signs of maturity at 4 months. One cockerel is nearly mature, red comb, crowing and trying to mount anything that moves... (Especially, one of the splash pullets thats comb is starting to darken up. She is not quite ready for that though..

) My boys tell me he had some luck with one of the older EE laying hens this afternoon..

I thought blue was my favorite.. But the splash pullets are so so cute. I too really like splash, at least in a pullet. The black roo's are hard to beat with that iridescent sheen..

My Wheaten/BW pullets are all much, much lighter in color than this. They're a creamy color, with the "gingery" color mainly in their hackles. I can try to get some pictures tomorrow afternoon, they're all asleep now.

What does the standard say for the hens? I too would like to be a little more educated on this variety, does anybody know where I could read up on them?

Hi,
I know this is not the hatching and brood thread, but I have 10 black Ameraucana eggs in my incubator and I am so nervous. Tomorrow is day 21 and I want them to hatch so bad. I had the dickens of a time keeping the temp right in the Havobator. The bator is in my travel trailer and I have tried to keep the temperature in there as constant as I can but it fluctuates on the hot days. Mostly the heat was low when it was off. And that was too often for my liking. I am hoping that the cool temps will simply slow down the process and maybe they will take a few days longer. I still don't have it down the diff between EE, Ameraucana, and Auraucana. I guess at this stage I would like some Ameraucana, just cuz, and maybe I could sell some in town, but mostly I just want some nice black and some blues and some splash. I have been in love with my CaunaCaunas (my nickname) for about 20 years and didn't care what the particulars were. They have one of the sweetest temperaments of any bird.
So, anyway, Just feeling jumpy now with anticipation awaiting some thing.
I also have some Lavender Cochin Banties in with them. As well as some of my eggs from my ladies. Nervous here...
Thanks for being there. It's nice to know someone is there who understands.
