American serama thread!

Hi everyone! I'm new to keeping seramas. My babies are five weeks old and 3 days. Do they all look like pullets? The dark one in particular has me puzzled.View attachment 1502255 View attachment 1502256 View attachment 1502257 View attachment 1502259 View attachment 1502260 View attachment 1502262 View attachment 1502263 View attachment 1502268 View attachment 1502270

Cute chicks! I don’t see any obvious cockerels yet. Usually by that age, one will pop out, but they can be late bloomers too. I’ll look at the pics better from the computer. Mobile always messes with me on enlarging pics.

The little one didn't make it, seemed to have breathing probs
But, I have one new arrival, at 4.00 am and another unzipping, I have video of first out, what looks like it's trying to help it's sibling out the shell, pecking the shell for it, is it helping ? can't post as says file to big, is there anyway I can show you ? It's so cute, new one is imminent, anytime now

Videos can’t be loaded directly here. Have to load to YouTube, FB, Vimeo, etc. first.
Sorry the one didn’t make it. :hugs

great comparison pics Faraday posted!
Here’s one of a silkied chick at about 12 days old. I can usually tell within the first week, but I’ve also had some start looking smooth and evolve into silkied. Colors change pretty quick too, I still can’t project most patterns from what they look like as chicks

Silkied feathers have a frayed look.

Looked again, and now I'm leaning toward the darkest one possibly being male, and maybe even the solid white one. Seems to me that when I see the back part of the comb peek above the fluff, and a part in the fluff is visible, those usually turn out to be cockerels.
