I was hoping to get at least 4 from my hatch…but they shipped on the 21st from Ohio and didn’t get to me in CA until the 28th…so I’m guessing they got jostled around a LOT. 😢 So I got two out of eight eggs. But, because of that I decided to look at eBay again and found a breeder from Fresno that shows his birds…so I’m gonna try another batch in other colors! I think he has black and cuckoo. I’m excited 😊
Can you add the link to their eggs?

My first d’Anvers of the year hatched! Two in the incubator (sadly one is a stargazer, will probably need to be put down) and 6 under a broody Silkie! Unfortunately in the incubator only like 10 percent of the eggs we set hatched even though the other breeds had no issues, meanwhile, under the Silkie 100 percent of the 6 eggs hatched.

Okay, tell me honestly...I keep reading about the d'Anvers roosters being aggressive...is this going to be an issue with my existing flock? Are they really that aggressive? I have a very calm flock of birds and I don't want to take any chances at ruining the dynamics? :S
They are very aggressive to humans, though too small to harm them. Among flock members they won’t ruin the flock dynamic. They are too small to do much damage and while they will challenge other flock members they aren’t die hard like game fowl. The females are more fiesty than usual, but again, small. They fight for fun and to establish their dominance but when the fight is done they’ll get along with their flock members.

Okay good to know! We will see how things go…I was pondering keeping a rooster for breeding, but may not! I have a bunch of tiny birds that are very mellow…so I will have to see how they fit in! :) Thanks! :)
