Lil’ update… she got reserve of the Junior Show!!!
Also she laid an egg.

This is my last junior show (it was a show where I was in both the open and junior show, but I only made it to best in class at the open level) so it was a real treat to finally win reserve of show. (And champion bantam.) The closest I’ve might have gotten before was best RCCL.

Congratulations!! Queenie lives up to her name for sure! Feels even better when there’s good competition too!

Yeah, it feels awesome! She is three, and she has done well in the past, but never this well. I guess they get better with age. Mind, it was a small show, but she deserves it, nonetheless. I think the only reason I wasn’t beat by a duck is it was a spring show. Hate Call ducks. They always win shows. But there were very few waterfowl at this show because they were out of condition.
But the Egyptian geese weren’t so the gander got reserve goose.

(top right is a Buckeye. I've owned all of these at some point except the Old English, and I still own the d'Anvers, bantam Buckeye, Silkie, and Marans.)

She does deserve it! She has been a hard worker for you! I’m with you on the Call Ducks too, stop winning! The geese are really pretty though!

Some of my recent babies! Oliver, the white one has an unfortunate comb spike, but his type is great and will make a great breeder I think And the other two are only 3.5-4 months old so they have more maturing to do. The Porcelain looks really promising, the self blue has several flaws but things to build on.

In case you’ve never seen a real Old English Game (non bantam)

the Sumatras were pretty. They had such dark eyes.
I made the prediction that a Sumatra would get best largefowl and the Old English Game would get best bantam.
I was close. They got reserve largefowl and reserve bantam.

Dark brown Leghorn… the pigment is so blended and saturated I could just get lost staring into those feathers. It’s like a tv screen when the channel doesn’t work.

Sorry about the third eyelid but I thought it was cool that there were large buttercups

his spurs were too long tho

My favorite bird was this Splash Modern. The black freckles on her skin are technically a defect but they look so cute!

This was the leggiest Modern I ever seen. Photo’s don’t do it justice

This brown red Ameraucana was super handsome

More Old Englishes

Here is the Old English Game bantam. My mom said her coloring looked like a bad quail, but I like her. She got reserve bantam. She looked awesome.

I too love the black freckles on the legs! It looks so cute! I really love Splash as a color on chickens, but especially in Modern Game. I think it’s that super tiny, tight feathering—makes it look so artsy somehow. That leggy roo looks young—cockerel? His little legs are soo skinny! My son’s MGB won Best in Division at the County Fair. He’s a nice super leggy boy too! I can’t get over how funny they look though haha. Legs for days!

I meant the freckles on her face but you know, with Moderns it’s hard to look away from those legs.
