We have 2 Ancona chickens that are now about 19 weeks old, neither has attempted to crow, one has a bit more black feathering on its back than the other. Just wondering if anyone can tell if these are hens or roos. Would an Ancona roo be crowing by this age? We are fairly new to this particular breed, we have one other Ancona hen that is about a year old.

Yep like everyone said they are both pullets. A lot of Ancona hens look like roosters when you just look at the head. They have more of a pointed face and big combs.
They are much smarter than most laying hens.

I had an Ancona hen years ago. Her comb and wattles would get so red she looked like a rooster. On more than one occasion I would look outside and think “where did that rooster come from?” They do really well free ranging compared to other breeds.
