Angel Wing on this duckling?

He can’t be in water deep enough to swim an float. I guess your other option is to let him be let the flight feathers finish growing in then clip them so he doesn’t catch them on things. And hope he survives with not being able to fly. In south Florida there is a Muscovy rescue.
Okay we have decided to buy a big dog cage and hold him captive there for 2-3 days and hope his AW gets corrected, we wouldn’t be doing right by the little duckling if we let him grow with AW and be flightless

my question is, he will cry, be stressed, miss his siblings but will that potentially kill him?
Cause I know ducks are very social animals, that’s my only worry now

sorry for asking so many questions 😅

Take a sibling too so he won’t be alone. And Muscovy aren’t loud so just keep food an water for them and make sure a predator can’t get to them.
Okay I’ll try getting 2 if possible
And they’ll be staying inside my house so no predators at all

This will all be for the better in the long run so he can be a happy duck 😄

thank you very much for all the help!

Hey guys, a little update

my mom and I were able to catch the duckling and tape his wings using bandage and waterproof tape...from July 22nd to July 25th, we kept a close eye on him all day for those days since we decided against keeping him inside, we just let him live his life with his 3 other siblings

after we took the wrap off, his wings seemed to be fine but the day after both his wings started to droop badly like in the first picture...we were thinking of catching him again to retape his wings but he was very elusive and was afraid to get too close to us so we gave up on the idea and hoped he would gain enough strength to be able to hold his wings up

fast forward 2 weeks..

The last 3 pictures were taken yesterday and today...his wings seem to be almost 100% normal and he is able to hold them up well, just one seems to be sagging a bit

my question is, are his wings good enough now that he will be able to fly??

thank you!

The drooping of the one wing, could either be from the bandage ( the duck needs to gain strength back in the muscle), or because of new pin feathers coming in, which are causing the wing to be weighed down. Or a combination of both.

I don't have Muscovies, but it looks like he should be able to fly. Maybe not fully just yet.

Good to hear, seems like he has gained full strength to hold them up without any dropping now and seems like all his feathers have come since one of his siblings (female) just flew across the lake for the first time yesterday!
So the rest of the pack should be getting ready to fly soon as well.

I did read that both of their tips have to cross each other and sort of overlap on top of each other...my only worry now is one of his wing tips does cross but the other one doesn’t

I guess time will tell if he’s able to fly, since I think we’re past the angel wing issue.

thank you!
