animal control came and said to get rid of my chickens!

We all think she should do something and she will only if she wants something done. Good luck "B" on what ever direction you will take on this matter.

Jumbo's

I contacted a lady who had advertised chicks at $3 each and she said she was snowed under with replies. Sounds like a nice little hobby, hopefully enough to pay for itself and a little bit extra

I have all the info on licences and suchlike but now its just to scrape enough together to make cages and incubator and get starter stock. But with the insurance not paying for a hospital visit with DS2 its all going to have to wait a few more months:mad:

And back on topic (blush) any word yet if she keeps her pets???

Just a suggestion...

It really takes time to actually "make" money off quails and you need a large amount like 100+ to see any profit, if any at all. Even Jumbo's, price of feed in regards to today's standard is too hard to make money off quails unless you can get your name out well or have large quantities...

See how the demand is in your local area too.

That would be a start : )

Hi everyone. Still same news here. Nothing new to report as of yet. Yes, I still have my girls. I will keep my girls. They stay in the house cornered off, then I put them out in the afternoon around 4:00 until about 8:00. This gives me clean up time, which I have gotten very good at, lol, albeit quite messy. But, for now, if I want to keep my babies, I need to do this. I will let you all know of any happenings going on as soon as I hear anything.
Thanks so much for thinking of me, I appreciate it so much.

do you know of anyone in the country that could maybe keep them until you get this hammered out? i imagine they arent very happy being stuck in a cage indoors most of the day..

Not yet, Tommy. I'm hoping right now, that the ACO will be kept at bay. where we have moved the chickens, the neighbor won't be able to tell. We only put them out in the afternoon. The last time the ACO was over, he just mentioned my ducks. Remember, ducks ARE legal here. I just should have kept my mouth shut about still having my girls. Thats what I get for being honest. I'll keep you updated.

I just sat and read 30 pages of this thread to find out what the outcome was as far as a law change...

I don't understand why you and your husband are not following up by going to these meetings and getting the laws changed. Keeping the chickens in the house is not fair to them, and it's only going to be a matter of time before someone somewhere in your county (probably the ACO supervisor due to the number of complaints) decides "enough is enough" and pushes to have the current ordinance more strictly enforced by first having your chickens forcibly removed... As someone previously said, this situation is not just going to go away on its own; you need to stand up and fight for your rights and the rights of others!
