Answer to the Delaware Dilemma

I am new to Delawares - I have a quad from a breeder - not hatchery. This thread has exhausted me. However, I will continue to follow and learn and breed towards the SOP. I am showing in May - will let you know the results. I show Silkies but will take a couple Delawares just to represent. My purpose was for conservancy and to give a choice other than broilers. I like the history of the breed. I have sold many chicks already and people are excited to have an option for meat and eggs.

I hear you about the exaustion! Check out the CSU thread, they are going over Delawares now.

Thats a lot of reading. I did the same thing.

I think that may be how I got started reading this thread. I'm sad that it does seem to have run out of steam as, like the Heritage and CSU threads, it is so educational.

A question for the original participants: After the club was formed, and the link to the club site was posted many times, what happened? When I click on the link now, it goes to a domain that is currently available and contains none of the info I was expecting. I'm hoping you simply changed domains and there is a new link, and not that the club went the same way as this thread....

I believe they are in the process of re-doing the website. There is a yahoo group for members but it is pretty slow. I think right now with all the shows, breeding, spring chores, etc. people are outside more and on their computers less, I know I am :)

Thanks Zanna! I've never really cared for Yahoo groups - I've joined several in the past but I can't seem to get how they work and they don't feel like "real people" on the other end, in the way the forum does. I'll keep checking back on the website then.

I wonder why the poor Delaware thread gets little attention compared to the other heritage breeds?? I have 25 Heritage Delawares coming at the beginning of the month from Paul Harter. I can't wait.

We need to get this up and running.

There is another thread here too, I read them both. Good info on both.

What is Paul Harters email/website if any ?

I am looking for a source of more then my little trio. I will be hatching but want some more of other breeding.
