I am getting a care package together for the boy and I am going to make bar cookies because they will pack/ship well. Any other ideas?

My idea is you ship enough for the boy and his roommate and all his friends. That's the best idea I have now. Oh yeah, my other idea is you get more M&M's, lol!

Baked a couple of egg custard pies, first time I ever did two together. But proud to announce, not a spilled drop in the oven But they cooked faster than expected, guess that's the difference in summer vs winter baking.




Gonna boil some crab legs tonight, any advice on how long to boil them ?

DH is getting them at grocery store and will likely be those precooked, but frozen. Haven't done these in decades.

Hey sunflour, the only advice I can give you on crab is that you should invite me for dinner

. Love crab anything...legs, cakes, chowder

but I've never cooked it at home.

Come on up to GA, I can call DH to get another pound or two of the crab legs. And bring your DH, he can crack them for us so we can just eat and pig out..

Had hoped to give one of the pies away, but they are the ugliest pies I have ever seen - wait, will get my camera to prove it..lol

Ugly: Too brown on top - caramelized, I think. And a torn side from attempt at topping with a crust cover to keep it from burning:




And uglier: Must be those fresh backyard eggs, but often see custard billow up in areas, the raised area once was 2 inches above the pie!




HMMMM, maybe a 12 hour round trip? LOL

Well, the most important part about the pies is how do they taste? Dab enough whipped cream on top and no one will be the wiser, lol.
