Any Home Bakers Here?

My goodness, I was over 20 pages behind. You guys have been busy!! And now I'm starving from all the delicious pics. :drool

I have a good excuse...new chicks came in the mail last week AND my first ever incubator eggs also hatched out Fri, Sat, and Sun. I was awake for nearly every single one so I could immediately mark the chicks. Took me a few days to get back to normal...my not so young self doesn't really do 48 hours without sleep very well anymore. 🥴

Peanut butter was always a take it or leave it with me unless it was white chocolate reese's. I grew up eating whatever the cheapest one was that my mom bought and knew it was better than tunafish sandwiches.
Once I began making old fashioned fudge and goat's milk fudge for the Farmer's Markets, and learning what a differences some PB brands and types made, it became my favorite fudge flavor. Cuz, you know...gotta have good quality control.....
Since then I've come around to like a good PB and having the occasional PB&J on fresh baked bread is such a wonderful treat. And I'm all about the Welch's Natural Strawberry. Just 4 basic ingredients...yes please! If I can't make it myself from my own strawberries or bramble berries, I prefer Welch's.
And I do remember the cherry jam. Miss it a lot! I've tried making my own cherry, but it didn't turn out so well.

Congrats on the new chicks...how many did you end up with between the mailed ones and the hatched? Any pictures?

Sure, hold on... I'll grab a few off my phone in a sec.
I wasn't sure about posting pics in the baking thread. Kiddo had a hard time eating some chicken soup the other day while listening to the sounds of the new peeping in the house. And I must admit, cracking some eggs into a skillet while also listing the the egg's brothers and sisters peeping made me pause too... 😆
We've raised plenty of chicks, meat birds included, plus broodies that have hatched chicks over the years, but these are the first incubator chicks and from our own flock.

13 in the mail (the hatchery shorted me a few chicks, but gave me a refund) and 16 hatched out in the incubator. I was not planning for a 90% success rate on my first hatching!
So that's what...29? (still a little tired)

It's going to be pretty when it's all done!
I hope so. Keep your fingers crossed, I'm not that great with paint.
Hang in there....you are doing it RIGHT...preparing to paint. THAT IS
NECESSARY. That is why we went with ALL WOOD.....finished it ONCE and now dust once in a while. Not too often. Aria
The house was a foreclosure and the guys that painted the inside used a taupe color in EVERY SINGLE ROOM. It's horrific lol. I love the look of wood but in the end it would just be too busy for me. I'm a minimalist.

Tried something new for dinner last night...Reuben Burgers. It was a burger patty with Swiss cheese, cooked up sauerkraut that had chopped pastrami in it, topped with homemade Russian dressing and a fresh made Brioche bun (everything bagel seasoning on the bun). It was good!

Duckling wouldn’t let me eat eggs for at least a month after she assisted an egg. I couldn’t convince her that the eggs didn’t have chicks in them.

:gigyes, hopefully sooner than anticipated! I got on the ladder to start taping cabinet edges and saw all the dust up there and couldn't just leave it so had to clean it up. There are a couple of patches on the wall that need finishing and then texture, the baseboards needed scrubbing. I'm tired and haven't painted a thing yet!
Cleaning is a big part of prepping for painting! It is a PITA though!
