Southern Fried Apple Pie??? I have no idea what that is, but I definitely want some!!!
Some folks also make fried peach pies, but apple are my favorite. And I only cook one batch a year - but an old family tradition

The best ones are made from canned biscuits, I don't care for those using pastry.
Here's the recipe, I don't measure, just mix to taste. I use Cameo apples - a little sweet but firm and IMO are sweet enough with just a splash of sugar. If you use tart baking apples, will need more sugar.
Fried Apple Pies:
Ingredients:
2 TBS of butter
5 ( or more ) Fresh apples - any type you like - peeled, cored and sliced.
1 TBS up to 1/2 Cup of Sugar
1 Small bottle of Apple Juice.
1/2 tsp or more Ground Cinnamon.
1 Package of store-bought refrigerated biscuits - the regular sized ones work best - I prefer the 10 biscuit can.
Prepare the Filling:
Melt the butter in a pot or large, deep skillet. Add the apples and just enough apple juice to cover the bottom of the pot. If using sugar add it now. Cook over medium heat until the apples are soft. I wait until it is almost done to add the cinnamon - to taste. If it is getting too dry while cooking down, add some more apple juice.
Let the filling totally cool, refrigerate to speed it up. You want it no warmer than room temperature when you load the pies.
Make the Pies:
Once the filling is cool, then roll the biscuits out on a heavily floured surface so each biscuit forms at least a 5 inch circle.
Place 2-3 TBS of filling on 1/2 of the circle. Brush the edges with water. Fold the circle over the filling to make half-moon shapes. Seal the open edges by pressing with the tines of a fork - dipping fork in flour helps make the seal.
Puncture each pie 3x with the fork tines ( helps prevent swelling or opening in the fry).
Cook the pies:
Heat the oil to 370-400 degrees. You can deep fry, but most just fry in a skillet with an inch or less oil.
Add the pies, one at a time, and fry til golden brown. Turn as needed to get even browning.
Drain on paper towels.
**I don't usually count the apples, the filling can be frozen to make more fried pies, but is a wonderful flavored applesauce for any purpose.
