Any Home Bakers Here?

I think I will try Either the Gump Bread
Or
Ronott1 Basic White bread.

Maybe I will do both and see if I can figure out Rudolph

Any suggestions?

DH thinks it would be cool to make the beard Cheese Styx. I think he is right but maybe later in my bread experience sounds complicated.

I think you said you usually use a bread machine? If so, why not use a rolls recipe? Those can be shaped as well.

See my new Avatar - make sure Rudolph gets a big nose. LOL.

Oh yes on the big nose and I think the antlers could be done kinda like Santa's beard only spaced more.
an oval shape add a circle for snout a big nose antlers and Raisins for the eyes again. I would try dried cranberries but red eyes might be Creepy.

But wouldn't dried cranberries turn out more burgundy when baked? Either would be cute.

Here's two to consider -

Rolls Recipe - from Machine Bread Book.

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 egg
  • 2 cups bread flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 TBS sugar
  • 4 TBS butter
  • 2 tsp dry milk
  • 1 tsp yeast
  • if desired - 1/2 egg beaten mixed with water to brush on top.
** you could sub regular milk and subtract from the water.

Mix /knead and let rise - follow regular type breads recipe for how long.

Push the dough to squeeze out gas. Divide into balls for how many you want to make ) recipe is for 12 regular sized rolls. Roll or shape how you want. Place on a greased pan, spray lightly with water. Let rise til almost doubled - about 30-40 minutes. Brush with beaten egg .

Bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes.

For Cinnamon Rolls:

I roll or push the dough into a triangle - add cinnamon mix, roll it up, slice, rise and bake and then ice.

My Cinnamon Mix:
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 3/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 TBS melted butter
  • optional - handful of raisins

Icing:
1 cup powdered sugar mixed into 1 1/2 TBS milk .

The same Dough Recipe is used for Baked Animal Shapes - same baking directions.

Except - after first rise - divide into 8 balls - cover with a damp dishcloth and let the dough rest 20 minutes. Then make the dough shapes - using raisins and nuts for eyes, mouth, etc.
Place the shapes on a greased baking pan. Spray with water and let rise 30-40 min til doubled in size and Bake 350 for 10-15 minutes.

Not sure how to do Rudolph with the cinnamon roll idea -
