Any Home Bakers Here?

Here are the kiflies. They are Hungarian, or Polish. Information about them differ, and so does the spelling. The pastry is rolled very, very thin and the filling is mainly walnut and egg white that expands as it bakes. If prepared right the pastry bakes thin and flaky and is altogether lightly sweet.

I was sure glad I've been baking Christmas treats just now. A friend of ours stopped by unexpectedly and I was able to put together a plate of goodies for him and his family. Guess I'll need to get a few more things done now for mom's box :)
Nice!

At least you do not have to eat it all yourself

Hello,

Ok, so I dropped off the goose I roasted at work around 10:45 then had to leave to take my brother to a doctor's appointment. I got back to work around 4:30 hoping to have some of the goose I brought. I thought to myself on the way there, "There may still be a lot of goose left. Maybe a lot of people didn't like it." I got there, and the tray, the goose, they were missing. I went to a co-worker and asked where it was. He said, "Its all gone." I was surprised. I thought it wouldn't be that big of a hit.

Lesson learned, when you bring a 10 pound goose to a work christmas party and have to leave early, make sure you have some before you go.

Nice job on the Goose

A Kringle is a long, filled pastry that is typically shaped into an oval. The pastry is really flaky and buttery. You roll out the dough into a rectangle and then place butter on top and fold it so there are 3 layers of dough, with a layer of butter between each. You refrigerate it, roll it out into a rectangle again, then fold it into 3rds again, so you have 9 layers of dough. Do that 1 more time and you get about 27 layers of flakiness. You need to be careful to keep it cold and not over-work it so the butter doesn't get absorbed into the dough.
I make pecan (for my DH), cherry, cherry cheese, blueberry and plain cheese filled ones.
Sounds delicious!
