Anybody hatching around March 7th? PICS page 9,18

How long has that one been pipped? How many hours?
If it is a long time, like 18 or 20 hours it may be stuck. I would try very very gently taking a piece of the shell off and see what happens.
NOT if it has only been a few hours though, he may just be resting.

I have five chicks so far out of seventeen eggs. One of my chicks that started pipping last night at 9:30 p.m. made a whole the side of an eraser but I left him alone all day.....I figured it's been well over 18 hours so I decided to take him out with a warm washcloth...I slowly dissected it and found that the head was stuck completely under his right wing and the egg yolk was not even absorbed. Bummer! He was a good looking barred rock....fully developed....I don't know why this happened, but I'm thankful for the other five.

I had one more that was having the same trouble, so I helped it take off the top part of the shell...no bleeding whatsoever, but I left the bottom of the shell attached just in case the yolk was still not absorbed....he's dead tired but I'm pulling for him...or her....i just put him back in the egg carton to finish his/her thing.

She was dead... not breathing or anything. I took her out and opened it up to see what might have been the problem. There really didn't seem to be anything wrong! She was pipped overnight, and then took a long time to zip 1/4th around the shell - I think she ran out of energy!

One cool thing though... one of the others that had pipped this morning decided to push on out! She's all wet and she's floundering around the incubator now, cheeping. I have one other egg that has pipped, but not done anything since this morning. I hope it does something soon... and I'm getting worried about the others that haven't pipped yet.

NoSpringChick - Did the little Barred Rock with the yolk not absorbed make it, or was it dead in the shell? I hope the other one does well for you! This is so tough - it's hard to leave them when you think you can help! I wonder if I had tried to help that Gold Comet if it would have made a difference...

It was dead in the shell; I think it could not breathe because it's head was stuck under the right wing and when I opened it up the yolk was not absorbed; so it must have died earlier in the day. Even if I helped it earlier in the day the air sac was not strickly on the top it was angled.

The other one I helped out seems to be gaining strength; I'm hopeful.

Now I have a black copper maran whose top is off but it's butt is stuck to the bottom....

Oh this hatching stuff is so nerve wrecking!!!!

No more pips yet!

They weren't even due to hatch until tomorrow.

Sorry for the chick losses. Gosh, I guess it just happens sometimes. I have had it happen too.
My little silkie chick is a healthy little thing but that leg still doesn't want to work right so she can't walk. She does get it up in front of her on occasion so I am hoping that another day will make her stronger and hopefully correct the problem. Then I will have to deal with the foot that doesn't work right on that same leg.
Good night and good luck hatching! I hope everyone gets up tomorrow morning with a bunch of new little fuzzy butts to look at!
