Anyone Collect Antiques? (Pics)

I collect metal (brutalist) sculptures from the 60's and 70's.

Here's a pic of one:

The only way to date them without years of experiance is to buy a good lamps and lighting price and identification guide. Most of the ornate ones will be around 1910 - 1930 though. Most of the old iron lamps are unmarked but if signed it's usually under the base. Look far an "A" = Alladin or B & H / B. H. = Bradley & Hubbard. Miller and others are pretty good too. Those are some of the best that are "Findable". The glass shades were made for the lamp companys by various glass houses and if signed will be either under the bottom of the shade or inside near the bottom edge.
I love the ones with the onyx, jade or slag glass inserts and base weights. Beautiful!

I "used to" collect pocket watches...the BEST Movements. It kept getting more and more expensive.

So... I quit...and sold my watches. (made money on them, too.)

I learned a LOT about watches. That's probably what was most important. THAT and meeting some other "interested" people.

These days I don't collect ANYTHING......

except...perhaps...empty beer cans... which the Feed Store buys at a higher price than anyone else IF I take it out in "trade" for CHICKEN FEED !!!

So, I guess you can say that I only get "Chicken Feed" for what I collect.

(I don't think they really QUALIFY as Antiques, though. Most are less than a month old.)

Cameras not working, so sorry no pictures.

We have a house full of antiques, most from England or Europe some Canadiana.
1870's mahogany gentleman's dresser, mahogany four poster bed, satin walnut wardrobe, mahogany 9 drawer dresser, oak hall stand, Martha Washington chair, shaker rocker, etc. antiques everywhere. Lots of antique biscuit/cookie tins, ink bottles, crocks, copper, brass, china, paintings, lamps, long rifles, oil lamps etc..

My prize is a full wall of antique stained glass windows, floor to ceiling. They originally were made in the USA and shipped and placed in the mezzanine of a clothing store in a 1800's Victoria.
They were renovating the building and these beauties were sealed behind a wall and had been for years. Cost me $3500 to have them restored but well worth it, they are one of a kind.
