Anyone else not a fan of Christmas music?

I got sick of it about 40 years ago. It was agony when my son was young and I felt I had to go into stores and find some toys.

I do love The Messiah, but I don't think of it as Christmas music, it's just that this is when people play and sing it.

Like I said Christmas is about Christs birth and I refuse to let satan ruin it for me with commercialism, and I for one will celebrate His birthday. Satan just loves it when we let him ruin a good thing.

Finally brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy-- meditate (think) on these things. Phil 4:8

When the salvation army came to our door with the food basket and toys , it was out of pure , noble and lovely hearts. Songs that remind me to do the same are good and pure and lovely. This is where I will meditate. Not the negative ads and commercialism or Debbie downers.

I will put money in the kettle, just as others gave so that I would know someone cared. I will sing to remind myself what happened on a special day long ago all year but especially at Christmastime.

I for one say "MERRY CHRISTMAS" , and "Sing of the mercies of the lord forever".

Not today--I woke up with Carol of the Bells going through my head and can't get rid of it.

You know he wasn't born on December 25th, right?

So anyway, I love Christmas music, but only the week or so before. Then I pull out the CD's and drive my husband crazy

I also like Christmas parody songs like Christmas at Ground Zero by Weird Al and several South Park Christmas songs.

My all time favorite is Trans-Siberian Orchestra

Me! Me! Oh, pick me!

I like Christmas music for exactly two days, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and even then it's a very select number of songs that I truly enjoy.

I'll be listening to Linkin Park, Godsmack and the like on CD or MP3 from now until Christmas, thank you very much. No radio for me.

I guess I should have mentioned that I don't believe in Christmas, and as a nonbeliever it is very annoying to go into any store and hear Christmas music blaring for 2+ months. Of course, I found it very annoying when I was a believer. LOL.

Wifezilla - I do love the "Christmas In Sarajevo by Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

And why celebrate a birth on a date that wasn't the actual date of birth? But we won't go there

I love Christmas, but I am not a Christian either

Just lots of good memories and family time.

When we were kids we did the St Nicholas thing and put the wooden shoes filled with hay and carrots for St Nick's donkey

In grade school the kids choir went around to different public places performing all kinds of Christmas songs. It was a load of fun.

I'm not a Christian either - I celebrate Yule, which is actually where Christmas originated from. I also have good memories of Christmas when I was young. Gonna give away my age here, but one of my favorite memories is of baking cookies while listening to "The Chipmunks" Christmas album (the old vinyl kind). LOL.
