Anyone Else Waiting For The Volcano Ash To Lift

I have seen many news stories of people being stranded all over the world because of the nofly ban But it is really getting me down. My son has been stuck waiting for a flight home for his R&R for over 7 days. He was supposed to get leave the 4th of April then Iraq got dust storms so he couldnt leave then they went into 2 lockdowns. He finally made it to Kuwait and has been stuck there for over a week. At this rate I dont know when to expect him home. The army is also having problems flying wounded men back for treatment as many are flown to Germany. At least he is on base and it isnt costing him anything. SOme of the other service men going back are stuck in hotels in various cities at their own expense waiting for flights back. Pray that this cloud disapates some so that flights can once again resume.

The whole situation sucks for many people!!! I don't have anyone waiting, but it is all over the news, and I find it incredible that the ash has spread soooo far!!!

Isn't it amazing that with all we know and can do a cloud of smoke can bring things to a stand still. and they say cool the earth by one degree, so much for global warming.

I am disappointed about no flights to Europe. A good friend admitted that she was upset too because she had been nursing the fancy that she could just bail and go to Europe anytime. I realized I did that too!!

no Air planes are going in or , leaving Saint Jhon's airport. (Saint John's is the capatal of Newfoundland and Labrador) because of the Ash cloud

there have been reports that the dust cloud has (or will have) reached Newfoundland by today, the airlines are already scrambling trying to push up flights to gets everybody in or out.

one thing that really burns my butt about this whole thing is the poop people stranded. There has been a couple of young men that were in Toronto for spring break from somewhere in Europe and they have been sleeping in the airport chapel on mats on the floor for a week.

Why cant the local businesses and all levels of government and consulate come together to help these people out? its a write off anyway.. If it was my son stranded in Europe I would take comfort that my consulate office abroad was taking care of stranded Canadians

It's not a family member or friend but I have a puppy waiting in England & I am hoping that the cloud will lift before the end of the month so she can come. I have waited so long for her.
