Anyone get migraines?

I get what are called cluster headaches. When they come they will last three to five days but may not hurt all day each day. Sometimes they will start about the same time each day last for several hours and go away and then come again. ( I used to say they started about the time my wife got home from work, but that wasn't true)
For instant relief I will use a blow dryer and heat my face especially the eyes. Sometimes it will stop the headache in its tracks other times it will take away the pain as long as the heat is applied. Cold packs and caffeine help me also. A long relaxing bath can help as well.
My brother in law geets very intense migraines and he has been prescribed shots that he can give himself (but his wife gives them to him) and he says they work great and very quickly. I think they are expensive though.

I use excedrin (a mix of aspirin, tylenol and caffeine) and heat or cold. I don't get them all that often, but getting into a dark quiet room helps. Also for me, if I take the excedrin as soon as it starts and immediately nap, sometimes the incipient migrane just becomes a bad headache. Mine are mostly hormonal, but sometimes red wine will trigger one. When I was pregnant the second time I was have 3 or 4 migranes a week. It seemed like I was starting one, in the middle of one or recovering for weeks. When I lost the pregnancy, the headaches went away. I feel like there must have been something wrong for me to be so very sick and then miscarry. Lots of people I know have gotten relief from Imitrex and similar sorts of prescription meds. Other friends have modified their diets, cutting out citrus, chocolate, red wine, msg, pork, strong cheese and other trigger foods. Not fun, but neither is a migrane

Imitrex nasal inhalant - is a miracle for me! (by prescription) Thankfully it was the first remedy my doctor tried with me, and it works incredibly. 20 minutes later, the migraine is just a bad memory.

I want to start by thanking texaschickmama for starting this thread. As a result i have read where many have had relief from maxalt. I had a Dr appt this am and i asked him about my husband trying it. Since he has worked in the past with my husband to find a med to help him, he agreed to send me home with free samples to have him try. I have maxalt and axert for him to try. I think my husband had given up trying because nothing works for him. So i hope one of these helps

i also know that with the maxalt, the only problem I had with it is that I can not take it if pregnant or nursing, it did cause my first miscarriage, so anyone who is pregnant or nursing would want to be very careful while taking it.

not sure how i missed this thread but glad i saw it today.

i have had migraines for 15 yrs now. some years worse than other. i had been prescribed Imitrex but the side affects were rough. now i take relpax and it works great.

also sometimes a sudafed will help, if its a weather related migraine. sometimes it is hard to tell though.

unfortunately I get them to the point of projectile vomiting and vomiting so hard as to cause myself hemorroids(I will never let it get that bad again). Never could figure out what was causing it, but my neurologist have me daily meds that when increased made me extremely dizzy and "feeling weird". Those ones scaried me so I quit taking them.
He than gave me "Zomig" that you take only when the headache is starting. It works very well, but it VERY expensive~ 9 pills are $239.00. I have insurance that covers it but it's our only med that has the high co-pay of $15.00 instead of the $5.00 of the generic
