Yes, indeed. It seemed odd to bathe him in the scalding bin too!

OK, here are some photos...

So what can I do to fix these feet? I thought of making a ball of gauze or cotton wad and keeping antibiotic cream on the skin and wrapping each foot in vet wrap for a few weeks.

He clearly does not like standing on cement and is comfortable perched on my legs. He's a very friendly and calm natured guy, good personality considering he does not know me.

It pains me to see how much this animal has suffered.

Ann i don't think that is bumble foot, may be possible he has it to, but looks more like burns from being in a very dirty uncleaned pen for a long long time,

i would probably start him on a course of antis, being he looks very swollen, I don't know if id put cream on it, as it may keep it moist which may not be any good at this point.

hopefully no secondary infection come on with how stressed this bird must be..

He got lucky as he got someone who cares about him now..

You did not say how you ended up with this bird but if the person you got this bird from has anymore animals living in the conditions this bird came from you really do need to consider reporting them.

I hope that whoever had that turkey living in such horrid conditions was charged with animal cruelty and neglect. Good luck to you and him. Thanks for helping the poor boy.

I'd be tempted to cut an old cloth book bag (or something like one) and make a sling so as to hold the guy in place while I soaked his feet in betadine/epsom salts/water for twenty minutes (daily).

Maybe the vet wrap could be folded over feet? Definitely needs to stay on soft bedding for a while.

Cephalexin is cheap and effective (better to have wounds cultured but depends on $$) on staph a. in soft tissue (worked wonders on our roo for bumblefoot). We just dumped the contents of the capsules out, daubed it up with grapes and he never complained about taking the medicine.

Good that he is not too big a guy, yet.

That looks to be from wet, acidic conditions. If you had some burn cream or preperation H to gob on there and wrap with the elastic bandage stuff just for a couple days that would probably draw out a LOT of the pain and swelling. Then let them dry out. As far as his body condition, put him on some high protein feed and vitamin supplement. Dry cat or dog food will give him LOTS of protein and my turkeys LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it for a treat.
