anyone love to decorate cakes

oh yeah, also...if you're just doing pictures on the top of the cake, there is something called the "FBCT" or "Frozen ButterCream Transfer" which I do all the time. Here's what you do:

Print a simple picture of what you want on your cake (flip the image if it has to go a certain way cause it'll be backwards).

Lay wax paper or parchment paper over the picture.

Trace the outlines of the picture with frosting from a round tip, maybe a size 3 tip.

Place it flat in the freezer for about 1/2 hour

Fill in the spaces with the color needed. You can just use a size 5+ tip to fill in the spaces. Make sure the frosting is pretty thick and flat so it won't break later.

freeze again another hour

Flip it over onto your cake and peel back the parchment paper.

You should have a mirror image of the original print out.

I'm interested in Fondant. I would like to make my sons birthday cake this month with fondant. He want's transformers, and I feel like fondant would be easier than learning to ice it that way...I could drape fondant on it, cut out the shapes and there it is :big_smile Or is it waaaaaaaay harder than I supect?

Thanks :smile

Fondant isn't as hard as a lot of people think. The hardest is just getting it smooth when covering a cake, but practice makes perfect :wink Doing cut-outs and such is kinda like working with play dough! tongue

Have you heard of cakecentral.com ? You can get LOTS of good advice there, just like here but cake stuff :big_smile

ZOMG I think I just found another addiction!!!

Leitha--your cakes are gorgeous!!! I love the bee hive! I went really easy with my son's 3rd b-day cake. He said he liked dirt and bugs so I got plastic bugs and made a dirt pile with cake, cheese cake filling, chocolate icing, and cookie crumbs. His smash cake was a little red wagon filled with "dirt" and I just put the bugs on them. He loved it and loved playing with the bugs after the party.
