Anyone setting eggs on or near today (May 17th)?

I have about 10 that are developing out of the original 41 I set. The babies are actively moving around!!

I have candled my eggs for the last time tonight and I am gutted

Out of my original 10 eggs I have only 3 remaining all of which are Millefleur Sablepoots. I have thrown away all of my Cream Legbars as none of them had any viable chicks inside. I am really sad as this is the breed I really want and the Sablepoots (lovely as they are) were more of an experiment to compare the hatching of collected eggs v posted eggs. Has anybody else hatched posted aggs and if so what are your rates of live chicks? I am still really looking forward to Sunday which is when my Sablepoots are due to hatch. Shame about the Legbars though

I have ordered 4 dozen shipped eggs in the last 3 months and have yet for ANY of them to hatch. I have some in the incubator now, and out of 19 eggs, only 10 are left on day 12. I am not confident I will get any chicks from this, and it is the last time I will order shipped eggs EVER. I only ordered them because, like you, I am trying to hatch/raise a specific breed, and nobody that lives anywhere near me has them (white faced black Spanish). I have not been able to find them anywhere in California at all, and I have posted on California Chickens (a yahoo group) and here… nuttin'. The only way I will get them is to order the eggs, and so far, none have hatched.

I also have a hard time hatching out purebreeds of any kind, even local eggs.

Now, throw a few mutt eggs in the bator, and we have better than 80% hatches every time.

Go figure.​

dewsetter sorry to hear about your legbars.. I would be in tears too! Would love to have legbars myself.
candled mine Monday night, had to toss 4 out of 39 that i knew were no good. Most seem to be developing, but my blue and dk brown eggs are almost impossible to see anything in cause the shells are so thick. Only 1 of my silkie eggs seem to be fertile out of 5 but the rest seem to be very good, as long as they actually hatch!
My candler consists of a small led flashlight and a tp roll.. seems to work pretty well for a freebie!
Going on lockdown this Saturday.

Thank you folks for the kind words. I am going to give some Cream legbar eggs one more go once my little Sablepoots are out of the bator. It would have been cheaper for me to travel about 100 miles and buy some POL pullets cos it is ending up costing me a fortune on eggs that would have made a better buttie! lol

Anyway my 3 little sablepoots are in lockdown as of 5 minutes ago so I am looking forward to them hatching.

I found a nest of turkey eggs my girls had hidden from me, so they will be going in the bator soon as I take out the turner saturday.. Staggered hatch, but hopefully I will have baby turkeys too!

I go into lockdown on Monday, and as of today I have 12 little polish eggs developing perfectly.

I am secretly very VERY excited but at the same time trying not to get my hopes up - i went into lock down last night and in the last 10 minutes i have a pip! I thought they may be a little ahead of schedule as the temp in my bator has always been on the warmer side, i just pray that i get one happy healthy chick. Any more would be a wonderful bonus as this is officially my first time from start to finish. Just as well i have the next 2 days off work, Im going to be spending it in my walk in pantry glued to the bator! Wish me luck!

Wow, how exciting about the pip! I go into lockdown tomorrow morning. I'm very anxious! All has went well this hatch. First time that has happened

Maybe I'll try to candle some this morning..hmm....
