Anyone want to hatch with me? - Went in 01/16/14.

3 d'Uccle chicks, 1 yesterday and 2 today!!! Maybe 1 more and she is laying again!! It is just too cold for her to lay the eggs and wait to sit. My incubator is full again...bantam blus salmon Faverolles and 3 different colors of bantam Cochins. LF blue salmon Faverolles eggs to come soon!! I sure hope my incubator has room...must try to pull out some eggs that show no growth for sure. I have a hard time deciding on eggs that are not white!!!

I wouldn't keep adding d'Uccles except I am going to lose a buff mottled pullet. The eggs I am adding will be her siblings. The ones hatching now are also her siblings.

I love that you guys are just starting right back up again. I want to, but I think my hubby will strangle me. I have to wait at least a month. Get these babies out of the house and then sneak some more eggs in. He won't know what hit him.

Going To wait until Thursday or Friday to call it. My coolerbator had held good temperature throughout just to much humidity. I think. Going to start collecting eggs for another try this week. Just in case.

Meet Woodstove, the only bantam cochin chick of mine to survive incubating/hatching during a power outage. He cuddles the dogs toy cuz he's all alone

I hope I can find somebody local with chicks that I can put in with him soon! The poor peeper lol On a high note, at least he hatched!

Oh yeah Do the Dance!

I did have to help which was nerve wracking because everyone tells you not to. But he has the tiniest egg tooth and he was so tangled up in his tiny shell that he couldn't zip after the initial pip, (though I gave him over 24 hours to make progress, he had none so I stepped in)

Awe! He is adorable! Looks like a feather foot as well! Totally cute! I have a rooster that is feather footed. :)

Aaahh cute as can be. Hope you find some buddies for him. We had 3 go into lock down last Thursday night. They all hatched and are now in the brooder. about 30 or so are going into lock down this Thursday. We candled them all last Sunday and they look good. the next batch has 9 Marans going in, 2 silkies and the rest bran yard. Not sure if some of you remember that I had an egg that got damaged during candling at 7 days. It was even oozing. DH was ready to toss it eventhough we could still see life. I had read about duct taping the egg. We did and now we have a healthy chick in the brooder.

I swore I wouldn't candle until day 14 but I just couldn't wait! On day 9, I took a quick peek... I found one very oval egg, large silkie egg, that I had pointed the wrong direction, the air sack was on the "bottom" and when I looked closely, I think I had the pointed end up. It looks almost the exact on both ends. So, I put the air sack on top. The chick inside is moving a lot.
I saw embryos and most moving in every egg! This is so addictive!!

The one with the black and yellow coloring is the duct tape chick. It is none the worse for it.
