Anyone want to hatch with me? - Went in 01/16/14.

I got to candle my broody's eggs tonight ( her name is eggyokieoo). Out is 8 eggs 6 are squirming one egg is very blue to hard to see but good air sac one was no good had blood rings. So we are hoping for 7.

Day 18 all looks good just candle them one last time
2 of the 6 golden comets were mostly clear
The others four look good.
6 of the 7 r.i.r. All are full with hardly any air bubble one egg is stuck in the carton so don't know about that one.
So 10 out of 13 sounds good for my first time building a bator!!

10 of 13 is great for a first time DIY...and here I am on a possible 9/13 with a proper expensive all auto bator....funny!

I candled Broody's (her real name is Rosie, btw) eggs again tonight, 4/4 loking great. I'm thinking hatch day is going to be sooner than I thought. The air cells look huge, and the chicks are so squirmy, I bet they cant wait to get out. Haha, good thing too, cuz neither can I.

I am only on day 17 but I have taken my bator off rocking but haven't set the eggs down on the side yet. That's tomorrow!

I have a not to good smell coming from my bator, but I am unable to target the problematic egg

Moved my eggs to the bator, the other chickens ate one of them, and Broody's making me nervous. I found the egg shell, with veins still in the membrane, so I know it didn't hatch. I'm SO angry. And Broody was off her nest, out in the yard. She's been getting off increasingly more often, and with them hatching this week I don't think its good. Plus, I noticed something weird. She was acting like a broody Momma. Like she already had chicks. Fluffing up and chasing the other chickens away, especially the roo. and when I gave them some mealies, she was picking them up and dropping them and making the high pitch clucking like she was calling her babies. I dunno if she's just getting into mommy mode, or if she saw the one chick and somehow thinks they are hatched now...?

Anyway, I'm not leaving the other eggs there, its too risky. I replaced the eggs and if she still sits on them I'll put the chicks back after they are hatched.

I'm so frustrated with my hens right now.

My hatch day starts today at 4pm.. I haven't seen anything going on at all with them. That's for 2 of the eggs, the other one I don't expect to hatch for another 2 days because I put it in a couple days later..

I did that once, but I was out by 6 days

the eggs went into shutdown on day 15.lol.
