haha pirates and freaks would likely be acceptable to the people i've met who've worked with them, villains less so but maybe, losers is ok but debatable given the japanese have ended the season earliy

and felons na cause the don't break the laws that apply in international waters. if you can call them terrorists i get to call the french government terrorists too for the rainbow warrior bombing, deal?

I guess we all have to agree to disagree! They have never been able to be prosecuted for their prevention tactics, so it must not be illegal. The whalers have gone home, so it worked. I'm happy about it. The argument that most westerners eat cows, so they should be allowed to hunt whales is just silly. Cows are raised for food. Created for food. Whales are not. As for it being "traditional", well, lots of things were traditional, like chopping people's heads off, hanging in the town square, burning at the stake, women not voting, keeping slaves, etc. Just because it's traditional is not a justification for it.

My question is why the Japanese need to kill almost 1000 whales for researching and then they sale the extra meat in Japan it sounds like they found a loop hole to the no whaling and are using it to be able to hunt whales. I think research should be about counting the whales and such not killing them just my IMHO.

*Ahem* I am opposed to whaling, at least, the short-sighted type practiced by Japan.

I am far more opposed to the "Sea Shepherds." The Japanese are well within their rights, even though I don't agree with them. The eco-goons insist on violating the whalers' property rights via those ridiculous stink bomb cannons and - worst of all - prop foulers.

Japanese whalers - Aren't violating anyone's rights, and aren't damaging anyone's property. The only issue is the whaling, and that's not harming anyone.

Sea Screwballs - Are doing both, or at least attempting to do so. Honestly, if I were in command of a whaling ship and I saw those crazy air cannons, I'd fear for the safety of myself and my crew and open fire if my crew had guns. Ever seen a modern rocket launcher, like the SMAW? Or heck, even a WWII era Bazooka? That's EXACTLY what those air cannons look like.

Any body catch the South Park episode dealing with Whale Wars? I thought it better television than the original.
