April 2017 chicks, who will lay first contest...

Pics
Stella laid her first egg!!! This is the first egg for my flock. She is a leghorn and laid the little white one. The blue one is a wooden egg to show them where to lay. I'm so excited. My boyfriend is also super excited. He decided we are going out this weekend to buy two more chickens.

My first thought was wow i NEED that chicken that lays that beautiful blue.. cause i never seen such a sight.... then i read on..... and pouted. Lol!

Lol! I did the same thing when I saw that blue egg!!

Gut check --
I have 1 RIR hatched 4/12 - so almost 19 weeks
1 Barred Rock & 1 EE hatched 4/19
18 weeks

The RIR is close. I can feel it. Can I expect her to lay by 20 weeks?

The other 2 look at me like I have 2 heads when I mention eggs coming out of their butts. What's normal for these breeds?

Our first eggs is so small compared to the others and she laid in the nesting box to like my older girls. Its very light blue.

What a cutie!!! The egg & the hen
She looks so proud of herself :yesss:

Thank You, She is. lol she pulled on my pants leg when I went in to refill the feeder there. Like mom look. Followed me around as I changed the water containers for them. Then I went to collect the eggs and there it was. Surprise one nice light blue egg.

Went and saw the eclipse yesterday, and came home to discover another bantam (probably the second barred rock) is laying. One of our big ones (born 4/1) laid a yolk splattered below the roost. Oops. I'm hoping for at least three pullet eggs tomorrow.

Still only two payin the rent. This lil black austrolorpe though... gah she sure is bitchy the last few days! Ugh! She bout as bad as the foolish roos.

The BO quads.. their combs are floppin over now they are so big and their wattles are big uns and have been red for weeeeeks now.

I have been a great maman this week.... cleaned out garden stuffs so they got piles of fresh green things to munch on... yet still... they are freeloadin squatters! Every time i took a load of stuff in i TOLD them... give me the butt nuggets.... or off with yer heads! They laughed merrily and went about doin what cluckers do.....

The lil polish cuties are comin out from under the coop more this week. :). We almost are thinkin we got some bantams. Cause they sure aren't gettin any larger jus more fluffy. Still nothin on their chins for wattles. But they are only bout 12 weeks now.

The brahma whom we do not know if tis a roo or pullet continues to grow.. the saddle feathers and demeanor say roo but the cluckin noises say pullet so i dunno. It has small wattles and pea comb but they are quite red. No spur nubs.

Partrige rocks one white and two brownies are fluffy and red faced freeloaders still too also.
