April 2017 chicks, who will lay first contest...

Don't feel bad SueT, all my girls lay in a beat up old funky cat carrier I stuck in the coop to integrate a new girl last October. Before then they laid in the actual nest boxes, now everybody waits for the carrier even the pullet that just started. I want to take it out but to say I'm afraid to would be an understatement. I'll probably end up just painting the sucker so it at least matches the coop. :)
well, 1/6 today again. Zilch, nada, nothing from the leghorn sisters after all their morning ruckus. One of them did go check out the milk crate after the Sebright left her warm little egg....she settled down upon it, but didn't lay and left after a few minutes. I hope when the time comes that she chooses another nest site. What is so attractive about this plastic milk crate? I really don't understand chicken feng shui......

Finally got more than 1 egg in a day. Stella's are white (one from yesterday) and Lulu's are blueish green.

Still got nada from my 8. And it's not the youngest ones, it's my 2yr old later overnighting in the nesting boxes and pooping. Ugh. Moved her out twice last night. So I put a milk crate in with fresh shavings. Maybe she will sleep in there. Ugh.

Chickens better get in line. Ugh.

We got a new pretty lil greenie today. :love . Chickenstock is in a week and half.... i SO need a few blue layers! Mebbe i will sweet talk my mister into a few. :lau. Anything else i really need in my life? :drool. Cause while i do love blue eggs... i don't necessarily love the look of the birds..

Eta... oooo another greenie today. I am missin two whities for the day yet.

Well today we have a new layer once again.
3/5 both of my EEs and the RIR laid today. Nice small brown egg. Almost the same size as my Easter Eggers Egg. Just a little bit of a difference in the color then my Orps lay.
Orps 0/3 but its still early for them when I checked this morning.
Still no luck with the Welsummers yet. But they are starting to squat for me now when I go to pet them instead of run off unless I have food in my hands.

UPDATE. 1/3 for the Orps now. Our time here is 4:08pm Some times we get eggs up till about 6 pm with them. Crazy girls don't know what laying in the morning is all about.
