Totally! I actually had to covet my first little gem. I've been admiring it on my counter in a dish and finally ate it for dinner tonight.Congrats!!
I was just amazed at my first egg. It's so magical, right?
They will lay more as they get a little older, but they probably aren't all going to lay every day. Laying 4 or 5 eggs a week is very good. Some breeds average more, some less. If you are able to tell who laid what, you can keep a chart. After my euphoria of getting 5 eggs, I only got 3 yesterday. My little white leghorn is laying every day and the ISA Brown is also now laying every day. One of the Buff Orpingtons is laying sometimes. They will be 23 weeks old tomorrow. When do they all start laying on a consistent basis? The 2 Barred Rocks and the Silver Wyondette aren't squatting when I pet them but the others are. This is my first flock, so I'm confused
. Oh wait rewind.... dil and five month old grandson are here for two weeks... yea.. interestin between adults cause she is welp
... anyhoo... hubby and his restless leg are evil! I slept on the couch and woke crazy miserable. The five month old pup came with baby entourage... holy hell peoples PUPPY CRAZIES! Chickens are bein crazy loud in protest of layin today? Cooler weather? Impendin rain for days? Crazy windy? Lol! Pick one! THEN! Hubby tells me that he gotta make nest boxes for the buns... one of the ladies has exploded her belly furs... so kits soon. But i am thinkin buddy that she done picked out her a spot by now. Yep he say under the dogloo. Lol. That is fine. So now i am a dumb nervous nellie bout bein first time bun watchers lol! Oye!Thanks Sue. I was hoping for at least 5/day out of the 9 of them. I guess I will try to be patient as they grow into thisThey will lay more as they get a little older, but they probably aren't all going to lay every day. Laying 4 or 5 eggs a week is very good.
