April 2020 Hatch-A-Long! All are welcome!

Ok, I'll do that. Thanks!

Unfortunately these were shipped on their sides. I don't want to leave the breeder bad feedback, but some of the shipping setups I've gotten recently have been awful.
Same... I had a horrible ship with quail from eBay. I lost the invoice so I can't leave feedback. I bought some more from a better breeder so I'm hoping that I have a better turnout.

This is how I ship my eggs.

That is a nice sized box for the foam too. One of the boxes I got had foam that had been cut down and was so tightly squeezed in that the eggs were touching each other. The goo oozing from the bottom corner was the first bad sign on that one. Has been a bad month for shipped eggs from all except for one box.

So far (this year) I have gotten off ebay: Copper Marans, Silver Appenzeller, Bielefelders, Sapphire Gem/Lavender Orpington cross, Silkie, Svart Hona, Gold Appenzeller, Delaware, and D'Uccle. I have had all kinds of packaging. The worst was eggs wrapped in bubble wrap and put into a double layer of styrofoam egg carton then taped shut as far as it could go placed into a box with 2 sheets of crumpled up newspaper and 2 of those air pillows. There was lots of room for that egg carton to move in that box! Air cells were horrid in those eggs. I started with 14 and pulled 7 clears on day 7 and a late quitter on day 14 out of that batch. 5 hatched and I lost one of them at a week old (chick just never looked quite right to me). Most of my other ones have been packaged pretty well. My Gold Appenzellers I just set were individually wrapped in bubble wrap and set into a tissue paper lined egg carton (looked like the 2 outside columns of an 18 pack egg carton - both right and left sides of the carton), the carton taped shut, and carton secured within a large box tightly packed with newspaper. 1 egg out of that batch had a crack on the point of the egg (looked like it happened before the egg was put into the carton). I waxed it and put it upright in an egg carton in my Janoel. Air cells in all 12 of those eggs were great and all 12 are growing (on day 4)!
