I love this idea and can't wait for it to get up and running!
Having raised my own meat for years (not presently, but wishing I could), I can honestly say that it is the BEST way to go! I love home grown meat. The taste and quality are so far superior to anything you can purchase, and just the fact that you know EXACTLY what has gone into the meat is well worth any expense and effort.
As to the name Beakbook - I like it!
One idea I am personally promoting on FB is the idea of sharing and bartering. I would definitely like to see a section on this in your FB page. Raising animals is expensive and time consuming, and feed is becoming almost too expensive to purchase. Anything people can barter or trade allows us to continue the lifestyle we so love. For example, I do wildcrafted herbs and homemade soaps and detergents. I would love to barter these items with other people. When I have an extra chick waterer or chicken equipment, I'd love to barter for items I am needing. I am presently a co-administrator on a FB bartering group already, but it is so hard to get people involved. I think this would be a wonderful way to spread the word! Perhaps we could just post links or promote bartering groups. There are lots of ways to do this, and I'm sure with your expertise you can come up with some brilliant ideas!
Another reason I am excited about this group is that I may be moving from a rural setting to a city, and I desperately want to take my chickens with me (at least some of them). I need information and this sounds like a wonderful venue! I have gotten away from forums because of the time it takes to visit 3 or 4 forums a day, vs. just signing in to FB. I still go to them when I have questions or to "check in" on occasion, but I am not active on any at the moment. I am, though, active on several FB groups.
So the idea really appeals to me!
